The Spice City Journal was initially an online directory service, founded by Oldham based Raj Media Group in 2010. It provided information and reviews on restaurants and food, focusing on the curry sector throughout the North West of England.
In December 2010 The Spice City Journal launched its inaugural hard copy edition, which was FREE and available from supermarkets in the North West region, including Tesco, Morrisons and Asda. Around 30,000 copies were in circulation, bringing topical industry news, restaurant reviews and stories on food, recipes and dining out to the public.
The Spice City Journal was a monthly publication produced between December 2010 and spring 2013. Since then it has become an online news service specialising in sharing updates on industry awards, health and safety information and restaurant sector news.
Raj Media have gone on to found Spice City Business Networking which arranges events for business leaders across the North West, in Yorkshire (Bradford and Leeds) and in the Midlands (Birmingham).
They established the British Curry Chef Council in 2013 (in conjunction with Spice Business Leaders Club) – a forum which encourages restaurant industry leaders, chefs and others with a strong involvement to meet and discuss ways to raise standards and promote and celebrate the Curry Industry in the UK.
In addition, Raj Media are the group behind events such as Spice Lifestyle Wedding Fairs & Exhibitions, and Eastern Pavilion Banqueting Hall in the heart of Oldham. Eastern Pavilion can accommodate up to 1,000 guests and regularly holds events such as business fairs and charity galas, in addition to weddings and parties.
